Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

Rating = B

It's hard for me to separate this movie from remembering screen writer Kaufman's Adaptation. In Adaptation, Kaufman's alter ego is writing a quirky thriller: is this movie that thriller? Also, in Adaptation Kaufman starts out as sort of a sad sack character dismayed about his life and as the movie goes along things spin out of control into thriller mode: the lead in this movie starts out the same way and then things spin out of control into thriller mode. I couldn't stop thinking that this movie was a continuation of Kaurman's self referential business that started in Adaptation. The acting, with the exception of Julia Roberts', was fine.
