The desert in 70mm is a
beautiful sigh, and we see Peter O'Toole in his best role. At
over 3.5 hours running time, this move includes 2.5 hours of
scenes that a movie depending more on story line would leave out,
e.g., long scenes of men and camels walking across the desert (a
conventional movie would show us a few seconds to give us the idea
and then cut to their arrival at their destination).
At the end of the movie it is startling to recall that there are
essentially NO women in this movie (other than standing around
doing ululation as the men and camels head off to war).
