Romance and Cigarettes

This is an
often-vulgar-and sometimes-just-bawdy film with little plot, lots of
over-the-top acting, lots of (deliberately) amateurish musical numbers,
a fairly obvious moral by the end, and an obvious lack of serious
direction. Still, it is sometime funny and some of the well known
actors in the cast really provide the viewer with a jolt. Some of the
reviewers didn't like the device of having the actors sing along with
other original performers of musical numbers; I thought this was
effective.
