Chris Cooper is excellent in this well filmed story of Robert Hanssen, a mole in the FBI. The rest of the roles in the film don't have much meat on them, and Ryan Phillippe is not so strong in the role of Eric O'Neill, the FBI employee who helps trap Hanssen. However, the overall story is quite fascinating, especially since Hanssen's spying for Russia seems unmotivated by much other than his own ego to show he can do it. The film makes nothing of it, but I was struck by how devastated Hanssen's wife, Bonnie, must have been by the discovery of his double life.
