In the film, the play within the film, and in
real life Juliette Binoche and the characters she plays were once breakout young stars and are now facing middle age in an industry and
celebrity world that values youth. The first two of these levels are happening on the screen; the third level is how this
film got made. In the film and the play within the film, there is a relationship the older woman and a young woman with sometimes
ambiguity over whether the speakers are the characters in the play or the characters in the film. It is all engaging, with
interesting acting the key women in the film.
