Dancer Upstairs, The
Rating = B
Filmed in rich colors, the
movie looks great. I don't agree with the critics who say it is too
slow: it maintains sufficient intensity throughout and I enjoyed
watching the characters doing their police procedural and other work.
The story is of a serious man trying to find a way to live a decent
life and do his job in a country caught in a war between a corrupt
government and terrorist revolutionaries. His eyes and heart stray
from his superficial wife to his young daughter's elegant and sensitive
modern dance teacher, and he is ultimately forced to betray some of his
principles in order to maintain others.
