Evening
Rating = B-
I liked this better than some of the
major reviewers. The acting is fine, including Venessa Redgrave on
her deathbed for essentially the entire movie. The film, including
who is who now and then, is a little confusing because of many
flashbacks and dreambacks. The prior time part of the movie is
essentially on the universal theme of searching for love, with a side
theme of what should a young person dream of doing. The contemporary
time part of the movie seems to be on the theme of nothing matters
(the “life is a bitch and then you die” theme), a little bit
moderated by the theme that “your life was your life and you
produced the next generation which will carry on.”
