Flower Drum Song
Rating = B
This is a pretty good but not great movie version of the Rogers and Hammerstein musical. During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2019 lots of videos of theater productions and movie versions of what were originally theater productions were streamed, and a few hours earlier I had watched the video release of the Lincoln Center concert production of Rogers and Hammerstein's Carousel with the New York Philharmonic. Carousel's singing and music was much better than that of Flower Drum Song. Also, a movie tends to focus less on music and to add dialog and movement among locations which really isn't right for musical designed originally for the stage.
I am not including a note on Carousel in this series of my notes on movies because it was not produced as a movie.
