Frozen River
Rating = A-
I disagree with the real
reviewer who says the movie lacks dramatic interest, has amateurish
acting, and tries to appear sincere which actually being insincere. I
found the story interesting, the acting fine (the actress playing the
native American talks in the dull way Marilyn on “Northern
Exposure” talked, and I can believe that is a realistic speech
pattern), and the problems and solutions believable. Sure, the
characters are working on mundane problems, like having a decent
place to live where the pipes don't freeze, and earning enough money
to buy food, and getting back a baby that was taken away from the
mother at birth; but these are the real-life problems of lots of the
people in the country and I empathized with them.
