G. I. Jane

Rating = B+

The major film critics are right on the money about this film. The near documentary sequences of SEAL training camp are exciting. There is excellent balance and ambiguity between good and bad — not overly simplistic. The story and characters are motivated by realistic human issues: everyone is just trying to make the best of the life they have chosen. And the final segment of the film is contrived (like the final segment of Top Gun — I mean just like) and confusing.

The camera angles never reveal that tough Demi Moore is only 5'5”.

My family discussed this film at length after seeing it.
