This is
not a great movie, but it is a lot of fun. It gives the Coen brothers an opportunity to
film scenes of sailors on the town, drawing room drama, Roman legions, Esther Williams like
water ballet, a singing cowboy, and back stage machinations at a 1940s movie studio,
all in the context of noir intrigue.
