Last Mistress, The (in French)
Rating = C-
I liked the
period costumes and sets. Other than that (actually including that),
the film was astonishingly static. Everything happens in slow slow
motion. I don't know what point the writer/director was trying to
make; perhaps she was just contrasting the wild woman and the staid
woman. It did seem clear enough that writer/director Catherine
Breillat was portraying the young man as not having any self control.
The explicit sex scenes were the most geometric since “Lust,
Caution.”
