Monsoon Wedding
Rating = B+
A delightful movie, with bright
colors, colorful people and speech, joyous music, and a hint at the
life of the relatively well-to-do modern family of and from India.
A second viewing of this movie was even more interesting and delightful. The second viewing
also clarified for me the struggle of the various characters to find happiness
in life and to hang onto their culture and do the right thing within it. Implicitly,
the movie makes the point that happiness can come from hanging on to a good bit of
traditional culture, even while making accomodations to modern, globalized life.
