Mrs. Palfrey at The Claremont

This is a nice story — too nice — too pat. It also drags. I think movie would have shown up better on the small screen of TV, perhaps on something like The Hallmark Hall of Fame or one of the feel-good cable channels. Several of the characters only appear to advance the plot. In general background motivation for the characters' situations is lacking. The movie is getting almost no distribution, perhaps because it is about the life of an elderly woman and the distributors don't see this as an interesting market.
