There Will Be Blood
Rating = B+
The film is engaging
throughout but highly stylized — lots of homage to earlier films and
actors, as in the Treasure of Sierra Madre and Walter Houston's son
John. The message seems to be that greed and personal agendas are
everywhere as is violence, both intentional and unintentional.
Watching this film, I kept thinking that seeing all five films of Paul
Thomas Anderson within a few days would be interesting: Hard Eight,
Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love, and There Will Be Blood.
