Tokyo Sonata (in Japanese)

This is a bleak story of
a family falling apart. As the movie starts, the disintegration has already started
because the man-as-the absolute-head-of-the-family culture of Japan and then goes
down hill faster when the man loses his job and can't bring himself to tell his family.
About two thirds of the way through the movie, it moves in a strange direction that seemed
pretty far fetched to me. It ends with a more or less happy ending.
