I loved the sets, the
music, and the costumes of this movie set in the early 1900s. I
also cared about the three lead characters, which is curious,
since they are all involved in veiled but harsh exploitation of
each other, which can't help but backfire in a variety of ways.
The lead exploiter is as hard a woman as I have ever seen
portrayed on the screen, yet she somehow comes off
symphathetically.
